Nowhere were the Protestant mission schools more successful than in the Marshalls.  Within a few years they turned out enough pastors to spread the faith through the archipelago.  The schools put special emphasis on reading and writing so that students would be able to read the bible, which was translated into their own language.  Here we see the male students in the mission school on Jaluit.
