Pohnpei is a stunning Pacific island with lush tropical forst and pristine coral reef. It is home to a variety of exotic species, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. Pohnpei, as a capital and industrial center of FSM, is facing steady economic growth and modernization. As a result, its ecosystems are increasingly threatened. From the upland forest to the coral reef, the impact of human activities has disrupted the balance between man and nature.

This video looks at the three main ecosystems in Pohnpei- the upland forest, the mangroves, and the coral reef-and examines what is happening to each of them. It documents some of the environmentally-friendly programs and projects that are now in place, and discusses ways each of us can do our part to help preserve Pohnpei's natural heritage.
