| German evangelical missionaries from Liebenzell first entered the area in early 1900s when the islands were under German rule. They took up work in Chuuk, Yap and Palau. Pastor Maider, the first of the Liebenzell missionaries to arrive in Chuuk, stands in front of his church in the Mortlocks several years after his arrival. |
