The three American couples shown here�Luther and Louisa Gulick, Albert and Susan Sturges, and Benjamin and Lydia Snow�were the pioneers of the mission to Micronesia. They arrived with two Hawaiian families in 1852 to begin work on Pohnpei and Kosrae.
