| The culmination of the build up during the Japanese era came in 1940 when a major Shinto shrine was dedicated in Koror. The dedication of the shrine, one of the largest in the Japanese empire, drew many high officials from Tokyo. This photo shows priests and religious officials ascending the steps to the shrine. |
