US troops witness the military burial of General Yoshige Saito, the commander of the Japanese Army on Saipan. As US troops pressed on toward Last Command Post, the cave that served as his headquarters, he committed suicide. With him died Admiral Nagumo, the commander of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
