| This girl wears a sailor's cap with the name of the German naval cruiser Cormoran. The ship was sunk off Guam at the start of World War I, when Germany was stripped of its island possessions by Japan. Even after German officials were forced to leave, their legacy, like the hat in this picture, remained. |
