One of the leading German trading firms was the Jaluit Company, which had stations all over the eastern Carolines and Marshalls. At its branch offices--on Langar in Pohnpei and Eten in Chuuk--traders often gathered for parties. Seated around the table at this gathering in Chuuk in 1910 are (from the left): Herr Olf, Tom Hartman, Ben Hartman, Pierre Nedelic, Ista Irons, an unidentified man, and Charlie Irons.
