When Copra Was King

Japanese trading companies soon replaced German firms as leaders in the copra trade.  Nanyo Boeki Kaisha--NBK or Nambo, for short--was the dominant company until the end of the World War II.  Here we see the NBK offices and warehouse, as they appeared in the 1930s, on one island in Chuuk.
