| In August 1987, Fr. Amando Samo was ordained a bishop. Here he stands with Bishop Martin Neylon during his consecration mass. Eight years later he replaced Bishop Neylon as the head of the Diocese of the Carolines. With this the Catholic Church in the islands had evolved from a missionary one to a church under local leadership. |
