FIELDS & INSTALLATIONS: On the site of demolished Japanese installations these 7th AAF men pitch their tents and set up housekeeping . Using bomb-shattered materials these men make their temporary living quarters as comfortable as possible. There is little time for “House beautiful” while the battle goes on. Later streets will be laid out, mess tents erected and another air force town in the forward area will be operating. Palau Island Group, Caroline Islands.

FIELDS & INSTALLATIONS: Because of a bad surf, for nearly nine months of the year, ships couldn’t approach the shore safely: this was the main reason it was decided to build a small protected harbor at Saipan Village on Angaur Island in the Caroline Group.
