RELIGION: Easter church services were held for 20th Air Force personnel of the 313th Bomb Wing in this outdoor theater at Saipan in the Marianas Islands. Oil drums and packing cases for pews and coral and clay for a floor failed to dim the spirit of that glorious morn. Easter 1945.

RELIGION: Capt. Bernard A. Spoelker, Army chaplain from Louisville, Ky., Fr. Jose Maria Tardio, SJ and Br. Oroquieta, SJ, pose with a group of native Chamorros in the compound at Chalan Kanoa, Saipan, Marianas Islands. 10 July 1944. Fr. Tardio and Br. Oroquieta are Spanish and have been working with the natives for 13 years. When the Japanese occupied the island, they fled to the hills and stayed there until they were rescued by our forces.
